The Project
Curriculum is an online platform that connects tutors and students. As a software development company that specializes in building web and mobile applications for education startups, we were approached by Curriculum to develop a web and mobile app that would help them achieve their mission of making education accessible to everyone and inspiring young people to reach their full potential.
The team at Ethical Devs built and deployed Curriculum’s mobile and web app from scratch, providing end-to-end architecture and technical development. We tailored every aspect of the app to Curriculum’s needs, resulting in a strong partnership and a highly successful app.
Their Challenge
Curriculum’s mission is grounded in making education accessible and inspiring. The company’s vision centers around the belief that education should be an enabler of limitless opportunities. To actualize this vision, Curriculum required a comprehensive app solution.
First, they needed to create a user-friendly and secure platform. This meant that the platform had to be easy to use for both tutors and students and that it had to be protected from unauthorized access.

Our Solution
Ethical Devs developed two apps for Curriculum: a web application and a mobile application.
- The web app allows tutors to communicate with their students and evaluate exams.
- The mobile app is designed for students to easily connect with their tutors without going to the website.
To develop these apps, we used different techniques. Ethical Devs use Java and Spring Boot for the backend, React for the web app, React Native for the mobile apps, and AWS for hosting the system’s architecture. This combination of technologies allowed us to create a platform that was both scalable and secure.
We also took a user-centered approach to the design of the apps and conducted user interviews and surveys to understand the needs of Curriculum’s users. This feedback helped us to create a platform that was easy to use and met the specific needs of tutors and students.
In addition, we developed a number of features that were specifically designed to address Curriculum’s challenges. For example, we created a secure payment system that allowed users to book and pay for tutoring sessions without exposing their financial information. We also created a scheduling tool that allowed students to easily find and book available sessions.
Our Process
Ethical Devs followed an agile development protocol to develop both applications. By following an agile approach, we were able to flexibly and seamlessly adjust to changing or modified requirements that were suggested during the applications development process. Also, we used Figma to design the UI (user interface) of both apps. This allowed us to collaborate with Curriculum’s team, creating a visually appealing and user-friendly design.
The combination of agile development, robust programming languages and frameworks, and a collaborative design process resulted in a high-quality web and mobile application that met all of Curriculum’s requirements.

Curriculum’s app development project was a success after launch. Both the web app and mobile app quickly gained traction and patronage. Within a few months, Curriculum secured partnerships with the Top 10 schools in the UK. Additionally, 95% of students reported that their studies were made easier through the Instant Tutor Mobile App.
